This is of particular interest.

As usual majority of the details are found in the main site AFA X. So I would just touch on some of the not very obvious event during AFAX

So this year Canon will be sponsoring the regional cosplay championship 2010. I already have a rough idea what the prizes will be XD.
Cosplay event and cameras have come hands in hands from a long time. So therefore Canon have taken this opportunity to promote photography as well as its brand. I was a bit glad it wasn’t Nikon!!!! =X

As we all know AFA X have just release their press details. Every other details can be found on the official website. However, I would like to concentrate on the 2 concern that most cosplayers are concerned of. Ticketing and Cosplay
TICKETING
As we have seen, the breakdown of the VIP and concert ticket prices are as followed:
Yeah, all the above allows access to both stage and event area. However, for the following
Why the complicated ticketing?
From what I overheard from Shawn Chin, Festival Director of AFA. Due to logistical issues, all tickets will be daily instead of 1 day or 2 day ticket types (Easier on the ticketing booth I supposed). Now come the question of why the differentiation of stage and festival access. Again as explained by Shawn, this method allows consumer to pay for what they want. Example if I want to go into the event hall just to buy some exclusives without hanging around the stage. I wouldn't have to pay extra $7. Vice versa, if I want to attend the stage event therefore I just pay $15. However, this poses a issue which I will bring up later. So its kinda like "Pay on Demand"
COSPLAYER and REGIONAL COSPLAY COMPETITION
*As of 13 Sept 2010, the regional cosplay competition is opened for entries.
AFA also attracts a lot of cosplayers as seen from AFA 09 turn out. Kaname will be one of the key judges during the event. Since the competition would likely to be held on the stage, so I can assumed that all cosplayers or peeps who have to watch the competition will just have to fork out $15 dollars. Furthermore, whether free entries access given to cosplayers is not announced yet at the moment. Although the pricing is the same as last year but the pricing style to me have a added meaning. I just feel that cosplay should be free and open but having to pay $7 more to see the competition when the competition's goal is to promote cosplay in the regional. Yay for $15 to see Kaname in action. Best of solution which I think everyone will want is to allow free access to all cosplayers and $8 ticket holder during the competition *SMILES*
Those above are just my opinions, I will update whether free access for cosplayers is going to be implemented during the next press con I hope.
