Cold fitted Haruhi for pose test
Continuing from last two days, must of the time is done on sanding and sanding and more sanding. A high quality resin lies in good sanding. During the sand fest, I stock up quite a number of pieces of sandpapers with grid 1000 being the highest. Anyone can show me where to get grid 2000? As you can see the Suzumiya Haruhi is more or less posable now with all the niches and overgrown resin being sand down. I realise the amount of work done is OMG! I still have her guitar to finish. But perseverance will pay off, it is one unique Haruhi you will never get elsewhere. Below is the sanded end products.
The product after sand fest
Good day mi lady. (Tamiya primer in the back standing by)
The step came the priming. What is priming? The below explanation taken from Katoots. "Primers serves as a base coat to help paint adhere better to the plastic. If the grey primer is used, it can also help to check for holes or gaps in seam line filling or other surface defects, which can be rectified before painting starts." Yep I am using grey primer, its expensive shit costing over $13+. But before that, I have to take mi lady for a BBQ session.
BBQ Suzumiya Haruhi
Threading the parts with paperclips makes for easy spray on and you dont have to worry about your hand being stained or resins being smudged. So next on the course is the actual BBQ priming. As like normal spray can, you shake and you spray. I acutally spray too much on some parts and created some puddles. No sweat, it can be sand down later.
Primed or cooked Haruhi
I realised something else. Never ever do priming on a rainy day. It kick your ass while having to wait for it to cure. So the next step is…… more sanding! As a matter of fact, the primer does reveal some mold lines and microscopic pits that I never get to see during the intial sanding process. What to do? For the perfect Haruhi, the next few hours is another sand fest.
Sanded primed Haruhi on rack
So much for a day doing prep work. Tomorrow is another sanding day with putty session. At this moment, I remembered the guitar is still not done on yet. A mini accident occured during the packing up. The instant set chemicals shattered the white bottle which it was contained in. How caustic is the liquid -.-" Thats all folks, more to continue tomorrow..
